Kareem's Random Thoughts: Bringing The Troops Home, Ricky P Is Done And Other Random BS

Home for the holidays + Rick Perry + Rick Scott = Random Thoughts!
Promise Made, Promise Kept
We have been waiting to hear those words for a long time. The troops are coming back home. President Obama made good on his promise to finally end this money draining, moral draining, and unnecessary war in Iraq. And if the news could not be any better, they will be back home in time for the holidays. What a wonderful Christmas present for the families that have been affected by this war. This has been a long time coming.
This is yet another resounding foreign policy victory for Obama. Even though the economy is still weak, you cannot argue that President Obama has been a smash success in the foreign policy world. lets not forget, he is the president that got Bin Laden. It was under his presidency that the world is rid of Mommar Gadhafi. And now, under his watch, he is bringing the curtain down on the war in Iraq. We can not afford Iraq anymore. Iraq has cost us $1.3 trillion dollars on the national debt and thousands of American troops lives.
So yea, count me in in the millions of people around the country who jumped for joy for are troops coming home. It was a promise made and a promise kept.
Rick Perry IS DONE
For the first time in my life, I am going to take back a prediction. If you read my earlier random thoughts, I said, pretty definitely, that Rick Perry was going to win the Republican nomination. Today.....I take that back. Rick Perry is a lost cause. How do I know? The pizza man is beating him in the polls. And, he just sucks as a candidate altogether. He can't debate, he is embarrassing Texas, and he just simply sounds downright uneducated.
I fell for it. I am a sucker. I fell for the hype when he first entered the race. I thought he was gonna stamped through the Republican primary. I was wrong. So wrong. How can a somebody come in with guns blazing and fall so quickly. He reminds me of the Boston Red Sox. So promising, yet disappointing.
So, here is my new prediction: Romney/Rubio.
Rick Perry, you suck.
Drug Testing For Welfare Takes A Hit
Rick Scott. Poor Rick Scott. Many people, including me, have decried the governors controversial "Drug test for welfare" law as a money waste and unconstitutional.
Well, a federal judge in Orlando agreed as well.
U.S district Judge Mary Scriven halted the drug testing for welfare applicants on Monday. Well done Mary! Now let me clear something up, I do support drug testing for welfare, BUT, this is not the time for it. In a time where many Floridians are struggling and education being cut to the bone, this not the time to be doing any drug testing for people who need assistance. From July (when the law went into effect) until September, 21,000 applicants have been approved for welfare and only 32 have tested positive. 32. You know how much the state had to pay back in reimbursements: $57,920. If this trend continues until the end of the year, this will cost the state $115,840 in YOUR tax money.
The judge also said that this was a violation of the Fourth Amendment which protects citizens from unlawful search and seizures. She said that drug testing is "well established" as a search under the Fourth Amendment. She also said that an applicants urine "entails intrusion into a highly personal and private bodily function," and that it "extends well beyond the initial passing of urine."
In her ruling she also wrote this:
"More troubling, positive test results are memorialized, perhaps indefinitely, in a database that the State admits can be accessed by law enforcement. "This potential interception of positive drug tests by law enforcement implicates a 'far more substantial' invasion of privacy than in ordinary civil drug testing cases."
She accurately stated that Tallahassee has not demonstrated a substantial, special need for wholesale drug testing. I could not have agreed more.
